I am working on a brewing project with my 7 year old this Summer. She loves helping me brew. She loves it so much, in fact, that she put together a list of things we would brew this Summer. She calls it her brewing recipes. It is actually a list of 2 flavors(fruits, herbs, etc.) with the word "beer" behind them.
As I inspected her recipes, I realized that her flavor pairings were actually quite good for a 7 year old. So, I thought it would be fun to take her list and pair actual beer recipes to it.
First up was "Blueberry + Lime Beer". For this one, I chose to use a traditional Gose recipe brewed with acidulated malt as well as salt and coriander. To this, I added the zest of 4 limes and it will be racked over 3 lb of blueberries for secondary fermentation before spending a few weeks lagering.
So that she can taste something close to her work, we are going to make a simple syrup of blueberries, limes ,sea salt and coriander and make a soda to put on tap along side the finished beer.
This should be a fun brewing project for me and the small fry.
